Juror

The Juror, nominated by the Executive Board of the Finnish Association of Architects, is a public figure who is a recognised expert in an area other than architecture. The winner is selected from a shortlist of projects chosen by the Pre-Selection Jury.

Antti Kuronen

Antti Kuronen is best known for his work as foreign correspondent for the Finnish broadcasting company YLE. In this role, he has covered many conflicts and other major news events around the world, including in Ukraine and the Middle East. He has also made a series of documentaries on international issues.

Kuronen grew up in a bilingual Finnish-Swedish family in Helsinki. Prior to moving to YLE’s Finnish language news service, he worked at the organisation’s Swedish news desk.

Kuronen counts among one of Finland’s most experienced war correspondents. His first experience in a war zone came in Croatia and in Sarajevo, Bosnia in 1995.

Alongside his work in conflict zones, Kuronen has covered many other topics, reporting from numerous countries around the world. He has also worked as a home affairs and political correspondent.

In 2019, he was presented with the Finnish Journalist of the Year award for his reporting from the al-Hawl refugee camp in Syria. He has also won several other accolades, including the Committee of 100 Peace Prize in 2019, the Golden Helsinki Medal in 2023, the Union of Journalists in Finland freedom of speech prize in 2022 and the Swedish Assembly of Finland’s prize in 2019.
